LAPEER — One of the most-publicized incidents of child abuse, at least locally, is that of Lily Furneaux- Wolfenbarger.
The 2–year-old child died at her father Jeffrey Wolfenbarger’s mobile home in Macomb County in November 2010 after her 28-year-old stepmother, Renee King, sexually assaulted her and then beat her to death. King was subsequently found guilty of first-degree murder, criminal sexual conduct and child abuse, and sentenced to life in prison.
