LAPEER — Lauren Furneaux of Lapeer has dedicated her life to the memory of her daughter, Lily, who was brutally killed in November 2010, and has been campaigning against child abuse through her group, Justice for Lily.
Her efforts will receive national exposure today when she and Lily’s story are highlighted on the Dr. Phil Show aired on Detroit and Flint channels. It will be featured in the second half of a show titled, “Stepparent abuse.”
Child abuse is 100% preventable. Not a single child ever needs to die as a result of child abuse or neglect ever again. One of the greatest things we can do to reduce and eliminate child abuse and neglect is to raise awareness and provide support to fellow parents. Research has shown that parents are more likely to abuse their children when they feel isolated or feel they have no support.
