LAPEER, Mich. (WXYZ) – With candles in hand, family and friends gathered at a Catholic church in Lapeer to remember the life of Lily Furneaux-Wolfenbarger.

Lily’s mom, Lauren, chose the location to hold a candlelight vigil because she says that’s where the two would often visit.

Lauren Furneaux says, “This is where she would like to come after church on Sunday.  She loved life and she loved Jesus, and that’s why we are here.”

Lily’s stepmother is charged in her death, but instead of focusing on her death, those in attendance were reminded of her precious life and infectious smile.

The family has established a website where they are selling t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatbands.

The family says proceeds from sales will go to help fight child abuse.
